False Creek, Vancouver BC

False Creek, Vancouver 6/8/2019

Our arrival in Vancouver was greeted by a fire boat display and Coast Guard boats with crews dressed up as pirates.

Apparently, the Coast Guard was having a fund raiser or summer awareness event, not sure which. Pleasure boat traffic was busy as we navigated down False Creek, with Coast Guard shooting water pistols and boarding some vessels. It was a fun afternoon but somewhat challenging for first timers entering the creek and looking for our dockage.

Later that afternoon, we were joined by our son Graham, daughter-in-law, Yuka and grandson Jacob.

It was a short but lovely visit.

We celebrated Jacob’s 25th birthday with a seafood dinner on Granville Island, followed by birthday cake and cognac on board.

Next morning the fishing boats came into the dock adjacent to us and advertised freshly caught, live spot prawns. Surprise, surprise, we had to have fresh prawns for dinner, and they were truly yummy.

The afternoon was spent walking around Granville Island and its awesome Public Market.

Next stop, Nanoose Bay on Vancouver Island for a Syme sibling get-together at Alan’s sister’s beachfront cottage.
