Drew Harbour & Rebecca Spit

Rebecca Spit, Drew Harbor 6/30/019

As we neared Rebecca Spit and Drew Harbour, we were treated to whale sightings off in the distance.

Once Kaos was securely anchored off of the picturesque Rebecca Spit, we took the dinghy over to the charming Heriot Bay Inn for dinner, outside on the patio, overlooking the harbor.

Next morning, we headed out in the dinghy for a picnic lunch. During lunch, we heard several snorts, then realized it was whale spouts. The whales were very active and although we were about a mile away, we clearly heard them slapping the water after they breached. The splashes were huge, even from our distant vantage point.

A spectacular show and treat!

Rebecca Spit offers wonderful, easy trails through the forest and along the shoreline. A great spot to get some exercise and enjoy the natural beauty.

We spent a quiet Canada Day in this pretty, tranquil anchorage and struggled to stay awake until 10:30pm and the fireworks display.

This poor sailor misjudged the tides and woke up on his side at low tide.

A memorable Canada Day for him, for all the wrong reasons. He was fortunate, and floated upright as we neared high tide.

As we dinghied past our neighbor, we spied this otter enjoying lunch on his swim platform. We assume the otter was also the same culprit who left a dead fish in our dinghy.
